PHOTOFACIAL

What is a Photofacial?

A photofacial, also known as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy or photorejuvenation, is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses intense pulses of light to improve the appearance of the skin. It targets various skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone. The light energy penetrates deep into the skin, stimulating collagen production and promoting cell turnover, resulting in smoother, clearer, and more youthful-looking skin. Photofacials are typically performed in a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart, and they are suitable for a wide range of skin types and colors.

What does Photofacial treat?

Photofacial treats following conditions:

  • Minimize pore size.
  • Diminish acne severity.
  • Fade sunspots and freckles.
  • Decrease hyperpigmentation.
  • Address skin flushing and redness.
  • Improve scar appearance.
  • Diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Treat vascular lesions such as broken capillaries, blood vessels, telangiectasia, and rosacea.
  • Enhance facial contour
  • Tighten skin
  • Stimulate collagen and elastin production
What to Expect During Treatment?

Before the procedure starts, you'll be provided with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the bright flashes of light. For Q-switched laser facials or IPL treatments, no numbing cream is typically applied. Instead, a cool gel is often used on the treatment area during IPL to lubricate the handpiece and cool the skin. CO2 Laser Facials may require the application of numbing cream before treatment. During the Photofacial procedure, you may feel a warm sensation from the handpiece. After the procedure, your skin may be iced to soothe any discomfort. The duration of the procedure varies depending on the size of the treated area, ranging from a few minutes to an hour.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of Photofacial sessions you require depends on your specific condition and the desired outcomes. Typically, the results of Photofacial improve with each treatment. For optimal results, it's common to undergo 5-6 full-face Photofacial sessions spaced 2-3 weeks apart.

Is there any pain and downtime involved?

The procedure causes minimal discomfort. Any redness and swelling that may occur typically resolve within 24 hours, and there is little to no downtime associated with it. For CO2 laser facials, a thin scab may form on the treatment area, which usually falls off within 2-3 days.

How early are the results of photofacial ?

Photofacial using Q-switched laser provides immediate results with glowing skin. IPL facials may take 2-3 days to show noticeable changes. CO2 laser facials may result in mild scabbing, which typically falls off within 2-3 days, after which visible results become apparent.
